Overview
Learning to Learn is a startup organization working with University Without Walls at UMass Amherst to develop a web application platform to enable the development and completion of independent study projects for students, supported by mentors.

As a Product Manager Intern specializing in design, I collaborate with two other Product Manager interns and the founding team of Learning to Learn to enhance the Learning to Learn web application. While contributing to the full product lifecycle, I leveraged my design skills to craft user-centered interfaces and prototypes, ensuring a seamless experience for both students and mentors.
Goals
-
Support the development of intuitive, visually cohesive digital experiences across web and internal tools.
-
Translate user needs and stakeholder feedback into actionable product and design solutions.
-
Rapidly prototype features to test hypotheses and validate usability.
-
Align product strategy with user research and market insights.
Contributions
UX Design and Research
-
Conducted user interviews, surveys, and competitive analysis to understand customer needs and market trends.
-
Created detailed user personas to guide design decisions and maintain project focus.
-
Developed Miro workflows of the UMass independent study process to identify pain points and design opportunities.
Design Leadership & Facilitation
-
Facilitated a 7-hour design sprint, leading the process from ideation through prototyping and producing the first Figma prototype for the L2L web app.
-
Guided the team through the UX design process, ensuring focus, organization, and adherence to project goals.
Prototyping & Visual Design
-
Translated low-fidelity wireframes from the design sprint into high-fidelity Figma prototypes, iterating on designs and using prompt engineering to ensure accurate feature representation.
-
Developed styling guidelines for the L2L web application, selecting UMass colors and the Aileron font to create a student-friendly, professional, and approachable design.
Outcome
Through leading UX design sprints, conducting user research, and developing high-fidelity prototypes, I helped shape the Learning to Learn web application into a cohesive, student-centered platform. My work on styling guidelines, branding, and interface design ensured the app was visually consistent, professional, and approachable, while research-driven insights and user personas guided product decisions to better meet the needs of students and mentors. These contributions improved usability, clarified workflows, and provided a clear design foundation for future development.
